Jet Lag
We are still experiencing jet lag and we have been home for 5 days now. Hopefully, it will end soon. Obviously, we are a little giddy from the lack of sleep...Vaughn just needs a gold chain and he will fit right in in a Jersey club!
Cousin Scotty and Vaughn
Ironically, Scott (Arron's cousin) was staying next door at the Grande Wailea on business. We were in the baby pool on Saturday afternoon and Scott happened to find us there!! Scott and Arron babysat while Heather indulged in one last trip to the spa for a facial. Vaughn slowly, but surely, warmed up to Scott. After a few hours Vaughn walked over to Scott and put his arms up, so Scott would pick him up. We went out for sushi and Vaughn ate miso soup for the first time. You would never know that this picture was taken just after Vaughn had cried all the way home because of tiredness! Can we say 'second wind'??
Four Seasons
We flew to Maui on Thursday evening and stayed at the Four Seasons. It was fabulous! It was very child-friendly -- the hotel provided a crib, Diaper Genie, baby shampoo, baby wash, swim diapers, bath toys and even secured our balcony railing with a mesh cover to prohibit climbing (and throwing things on our neighbors below us). They even spelled out V-A-U-G-H-N in colorful sponges around the bathtub! We ate delicious food (we LOVE Maui Tacos :) and saw amazing sunsets, which occurred at 6:58 pm while we were there. We only left the hotel for food...and alcohol...and took maybe 5 pictures while we were there. PK informed me that is a sign of a good, relaxing vacation, when you don't take many photos. I think our spa bill will attest to that!
Lanikai Beach
We were on Oahu from Monday to Thursday evening. Lanikai Beach is one of the top beaches in America (http://www.hawaiiweb.com/oahu/beaches/lanikai_beaches.htm). Vaughn loved exploring the house, the dog Pele, and his two new friends Jesse (age 8) and Max (age 6). The backyard was, of course, a soccer field! When we exited the back gate, we took 15 steps to the water. Vaughn hated the water the first day and loved it the second day. The only reason we emerged from the 70-degree, clear blue water was because we saw a man-o-war. Other than that, perfection...
1st day in Hawaii
After a painfully long trip, we finally made it to Honolulu. We left Newark Airport at 7 am on Sunday, June 3rd and did not arrive in Honolulu until 10:30 am on Monday, June 4th. Our connecting flight in Salt Lake City was delayed for 4 hours before it was ultimately cancelled. We were not allowed to get our checked luggage (we had 50 diapers in a suitcase and only TWO left in the diaper bag!!) and had to spend the night in a hotel. This picture is a view of the ocean and military base while we were taking a morning stroll.
